About me

I'm Outi Penttilä, an interior designer and stylist based in Loughton, Essex.

I've spent over 20 years working across fashion, visual merchandising and interior styling, developing an eye for how spaces come together and how they make people feel.

From creating fashion displays to styling interiors at Barker & Stonehouse, I've learnt how colour, texture, proportion and lighting can change the way we experience a space. Sometimes it's the smallest adjustment that makes the biggest difference.

Over the years, I've developed an instinct for knowing when something works, when it doesn't and, more importantly, why. It's a trained eye, built through years of working with furniture, objects and spaces, and it's what I bring to every project.

Alongside my industry experience, I hold a Level 3 Diploma in Interior Design, combining creative instinct with practical design knowledge.

Today, I help homeowners see their spaces differently, finding new possibilities in what they already own rather than automatically starting again.

A Creative Eye, From Fashion to Interiors

Two of the window displays I designed were created for the opening of the Switch House at Tate Modern. Each had to capture attention, tell a story and create an impression through details.

That same creative approach is what I bring to interiors today. Whether styling a window display or someone's home, it's about understanding how colour, texture, proportion and the placement of objects work together.

The scale may be different, but the principle remains the same: knowing what to keep, what to change and when everything has found its place.
